Britney Spears‘ driver’s license case dismissed. The jurors told Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James Steele they were deadlocked 10-2 in favor of acquittal, and the judge then declared a mistrial. Coping with 9-to-5 life is at the core of two of this year’s top contenders. AMC’s “Mad Men,” a gorgeously retro re-creation of a 1960s advertising agency, is the drama standout with 16 nominations.

NBC’s “30 Rock,” a smart, irreverent peek inside show-biz workplace craziness, is the king of comedy with 17 nods.
