Iceland Appoints First Openly Gay Leader in the World. The country has appointed an “out and proud” lesbian to serve as their interim Prime Minister.
Johanna Sigurdardottir became the public face of the people’s revolution in Iceland. Sigurdardottir, 66, had been the country’s social affairs minister, and now holds the highest office in the country.
