Lowe’s announced last week that it was killing plans for a new store in Canton, and cutting the number of new stores it will open in the coming year to 75 to 85, about half of the number previously planned.
Torrington will get one of those new stores, Rich said, because of its potential for growth.
She said the company evaluates new locations based on a number of different reasons, including convenient location and a safe or easy access to the local roads.
