Fashion in diamond trash
Trash Talk By: Diane Bell — Debbie Roth and her husband, Jim, saw plenty of it the other day when they sifted through garbage at the Miramar Landfill for Debbie’s lost wedding ring. The Roths’ odyssey started when Debbie realized her diamond ring (Emmitt Smith Diamond Trash) was missing one recent morning. The night before, she had put it back on after peeling potatoes in the kitchen of their home in Mission Beach. She suspected the ring slipped off her finger when she tossed rubbish into the trash compacter, but there was no way to check. The trash had gone out that night, and the city had collected it already.
Desperate, Debbie called the city’s Environmental Services Department, where Deanna Burke informed her the waste disposal truck hadn’t yet been dumped. City officials quickly arranged for Debbie to meet her waste disposal collector, Hortencia Galvez, at the dump at noon. Emmitt Smith Diamond Trash
