Protect our children act

Its mission is to get child predators locked up and its goal is to get the U.S. Senate to pass the Protect Our Children Act. The House passed it last fall.

Actor and child advocate David Keith spearheaded efforts with business leaders and Mayor Bill Haslam to get the national organization headquartered in Knoxville.

Child advocates say the victims of rape and molestation are getting younger and the crimes getting more brutal.

Investigators have the technology to find where many predators are, but there’s only enough money to allow them to investigate about two percent of their leads.

It is critical that we get this type of scum off the internet, off the streets and into prison for the offenses that have and continue to perpetrate upon our children! This is top priority and must be dealt with immediately. In a free country, there is no excuse for this to happen. We have resources to add on earmarks to all kinds of bills, let this pass with a resounding YES!

Thank you.

Let me first say that I do agree with the Bill. But it seems like it is focusing efforts strictly on internet crimes. It also seems to only fund federal law enforcement. I think it is a very good start but the truth of the matter is that the bill needs to put some focus on previously convicted sex offenders who are in sosciety today. There should be money designated to the constant monitoring of these dirtbags. After all we already know that they’ve been convicted once and if they are not watched it’s only a matter of time before they do it again.
