The torrential downpour (thanks to Tropical Storm Hanna) hasn’t stopped the fashion flock from stomping all over New York City, from the Bryant Park tents to gritty off-site venues for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. F!D also is here to check out the spring 2009 designer shows.
The star wattage of performers at the annual Fashion Rocks show on Friday night was so massive that we’re surprised Radio City Music Hall didn’t explode. Instead of belting out their own hits, many of the performers opted for glitzy tributes: Rihanna performed Madonna’s “Vogue”; Justin Timberlake went Motown with Marvin Gaye’s “Got To Give It Up”; Beyoncé crooned Etta James’ “At Last.” Catch a broadcast of the show Tuesday on CBS.

Lacoste designer Christophe Lemaire presented a collection filled with easy, breezy resort wear and sporty golf gear in black-and-white combos that nodded to mod. Fresh from the U.S. Open was tennis ace Andy Roddick, taking in all the action on the fashion sidelines.
