Tony Award season is back again and this time will be hosted by actress and comedienne Whoopi Goldberg. Tony once again awards the year’s best in Broadway, is to be broadcast live on CBS June 15 from Radio City Music Hall in Manhattan. Will out favourites make it to the nomination day?
Comes Tuesday, May 13th 8:30 a.m. Tony Award winning actor, David Hyde Pierce and Tony Award winning actress Sara Ramirez, will announce the 2008 Tony Award Nomination live from The New York Public Library for Performing Arts at Lincoln Center.

“A century separates Acts I and II of “Sunday in the Park With George,” the Sondheim musical about artistic obsession. In the Roundabout revival, those 100 years pass before your eyes seamlessly in a fantastic time-lapse sequence you might expect to see in a film, but not on stage. That’s the thing about director Sam Buntrock’s staging: It’s filled with surprising eye candy.”

“Pass the bile and vitriol, please.” No one actually says that in “August: Osage County,” but the second-act dinner scene boils over with savagery as the matriarch of the disturbed Weston clan, a woman with cancer of the mouth (fittingly), pushes her daughters to get verbally and physically violent. I’m looking forward to going back for seconds.

“Theresa Rebeck’s “Mauritius,” a play about sisters warring over some rare stamps, got mixed notices, but I found it very satisfying. And I still think back and marvel at the moment when Jackie screams at her older sibling about sprouting “bug wings, the kind that move really fast,” showing how disturbed she is.
I am more interested to see which celebrities sashay on the red carpet! I don’t have personal favourite for this year’s Tony Award Nominees.
