We asked the fashion insiders to share their hot tips on who’s going to be big this year
Jeff Banks, international fashion and homewares designer, says look out for: Jens Laugesen
Not known for their sense of humour, Jens is a breath of fresh air from Denmark.
Having studied in Paris he moved to Britain which is a sensible thing to do if you want to be at the hub of what’s happening in fashion.
“Since securing an MA in Fashion at Central St Martins in 2002, Jens has achieved so much. Gaining the Topshop New Generation Award in 2003 allowed Jens to display his autumn/winter 2003 collection on the runways at London Fashion Week.
Now his collections can be viewed worldwide in more than 22 high-profile stores.
“Most recently he has received the prestigious Fashion Forward Sponsorship given by The British Fashion Council for the second time.
“Shoulder-rubbing with some of fashion’s big names like photographer Knick Night and Alexander McQueen won’t do his career any harm and should see him catapulted into the spotlight in 2008.”
Jill Simon, director of FashionPublic.com, which launches in the UK in May, says look out for: Britt Lintner
I predict that Britt Lintner will break down all barriers this year. Britt’s concept is highly unique in that it is designed for working female executives by a working female executive.
“Britt is a hedge fund manager by day and fashion designer by night.
“Like many women working in the City, Britt must be dressed as professionally as her male colleagues with their ‘made to order’ Bond Street suits.
“Britt’s collection of dresses combine sophistication and style so that important women are indeed noticed. /icwales.icnetwork.co.uk
