Amidst dresses, volume, layers, fur trims and the eternal question of metallic versus floral prints, the world of fashion is always on the lookout for something new. New designs, newer fads…
what next is the question that keeps this industry in a state of constant flux.
And after decades of seeing a few established names grow bigger and better, the Indian fashion industry found a handful of new names in 2007 who the seniors agreed could be the next big things.
Hitherto unknown, they came out from the cold to make their mark.
FDCI chief, Rathi Vinay Jha, calls Zubair Kirmani, Varun Sardana, Prashant Verma and Abhijeet Khanna as the faces to watch out for. Of the lot, Khanna has even taken his collection to London.
Adds Ritu Kumar, “These young faces are very important for our fashion industry. They are pushing the button, moving forward, giving the foreign labels a good run for their money.” /timesofindia.indiatimes.com
