As what Malu Fernandez said. I don’t find anything wrong of what she said. If OFW found it stupid and insulting then stop reading it and forget it. Malu is just Malu Fenrandez she’s not the first lady of the Philippines. There are thousands of rude comment and write-ups on the internet written by Filipinos but why take Malu’s one gutless article (the way Filipino find it) all the way down for expressing what she feels? Hmmm.
“Meanwhile, I wanted to slash my wrist at the thought of being trapped in a plane with all of them. While I was on the plane (where the seats were so small I had bruises on my legs), my only consolation was the entertainment on the small flat screen in front of me. But it was busted, so I heaved a sigh, popped my sleeping pills and dozed off to the sounds of gum chewing and endless yelling of “HOY! Kumusta ka na? At taga saan ka? Domestic helper ka rin ba?” (“Hey there! How are you? Where are you from? Are you also a domestic helper?) I thought I had died and God had sent me to my very own private hell.”
After a nine-hour flight, Fernandez landed in Greece and quickly “washed the plane off” her as the “Louis Vuittons” under her eyes, she wrote, were “enormous.” Despite the cold, she “bravely went about in a lightweight sweater and a throw.” (”Bravely” is apparently her favorite description of how she does things.)
“On my way back, I had to bravely take the economy flight once more. This time I had already resigned myself to being trapped like a sardine in a sardine can with all these OFWs smelling of AXE and Charlie cologne while Jo Malone evaporated into thin air.”
So what if she said that? Why Filipino couldn’t take truths! Malu was telling exactly how she felt that time. She was right the OFWs have to do more thickreading magazine! INQ
i guess she doesn’t mind being called a pig, coz she looks like one and that’s the ‘truth’? everyone knows that ofw’s, or filipinos in general, are noisy people, in planes, in malls, wherever. but to poke fun and equate this to a suicide-inducing scenario (she would rather slash her wrist, i know is rhetorical) is rather tactless and not funny.
but the main point here is how the supposedly ‘elite’ class of the philippine society look down on the ordinary people (most ofw’s are) to an extent where they would find them almost comical and a good source of ‘witty’ laughs.

I am sure she’s aware of that but she doesn’t mind it!
She’s might have or not have any idea how OFW work hard and help the Philippine economy but still we can’t we blame someone who doesn’t care! She has her own reason! Like you do and Like I do!
