Jason Wu, New comer in the world of fashion

Jason Wu. At the tender age of 16, Jason Wu concerned himself more with color swatches for his line of designer dolls than buying a corsage for the prom. From miniature models to full-size forms, Wu started small and scaled up to women’s clothing. His first collection premiered at the New York fashion show tents in 2005 to rave reviews. Now in his fourth runway season, Wu says, “My emphasis is on the perfect date dress that will make a women’s body look beautiful.” Wu prides himself on quality and mixes old and new styles. This season’s inspiration paired off-the-shoulder minks with cocktail dresses. Wu has also teamed with famed shoe designer Manolo Blanik to create a signature Wu shoe collection.
This month, Wu received the ultimate industry validation when Vogue featured Wu’s clothing in a full-page spread. Wu also has a long list of celebrity clients, including Eva Longoria (who wore a Wu at last year’s Emmy Awards) and Nelly Furtado (she wore hers at the 2006 America Music Awards). His collection is available at Saks Fifth Avenue and other specialty retailers.
