Here in Sweden bikes are more popular just like any part of the Scandinavian countries. I think cars are being outnumbered by bikes.
People prefer to go on biking to work or to go biking somewhere around the city it is because too cheap to have a bike than a car. The maintenance you spend for a car is so much that could equal to the rent of your apartment while bicycles don’t need a lot of upholding and even a lot of people just leave their bikes on the street when even they feel like not using it but they always have attached to big locks as stealing bikes is becoming popular.
I have lost three bicycles already and so as my friends. Every person you know in the city has lost two or three bikes at least so you have to be very careful leaving your bike somewhere. You have to make it sure that you attached to a metal with a huge lock because many people just steal bike because they want to go home quickly especially after party and afterwards they just tend to leave it on the street that is why you will see a lot of abandoned bikes everywhere.
Police has a big task picking up all the abandoned bikes and after three months or so, if no one comes to claim then they put it on Auction sale.
If you happen you get your bike stolen it’s either wait for a week or three months then check at the nearest police station and if you get lucky you will find your bike right there.
There are also many people stealing bikes as mean business and selling them very cheap.
