It is very important for every large company to watch the nature first before putting up something that would possibly risk or interrupts nature’s existence. As BP plans to spend more than $3 billion to modernize the Whiting Refinery to process additional heavy crude oil from Canada, a secure and reliable source.
There has been an issue regarding the plan which some speculation of “the harm to people or the environment”. I don’t think BP is not aware of any environmental issues while this prominent company has been building business like this that could benefit people creating jobs now and in the future and at the same time environmentally friendly as it follows state and federal laws, regulations, and guidelines that protect aquatic and human life.
If there’s some concerns were brought up that because of some misinterpretations or the lack of information that has been disseminated before the projects starts as BP is committed to minimizing the environmental impact of their actions. The concern that has been brought is the all about the water into Lake Michigan and as much as BP is concerned, what is released from their refinery is treated water that is more than 99.9% water and not sludge.
All sludge is treated separately, according to state and federal requirements, and never discharged into Lake Michigan. There have been parties involved such as the government and environmentalists so this should help solve the misinterpretations.
