Sugarland beats Miley to top of charts this week

Sugarland and Miley Cyrus duked it out for the top spot on the album chart again, this time with different results. Last week’s winner, Cyrus, dropped to No. 2, selling 163,000 of her Breakout, a reasonable 56 percent decrease.

Sugarland, the Georgia-based country-rock duo, moved 171,000 units of Love on the Inside, earning the top spot, with a smaller decline of 45 percent.

The latter act had some help from a unique release strategy. Last week, they put out the higher-priced deluxe version of their album; this week, they had the lower-priced standard edition out as well, which appealed to more bargain-minded shoppers. Traveling Pants

By Hollywood profit standards, the cast and producers of the sequel to “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” admit they were surprised another film based on the hit book series was even made.

The sequel is released in the United States on Wednesday even though the original 2005 film made only $39 million in North America and $2.9 million overseas.

But with a loyal audience generated by fans of the best-selling young adult book series, guaranteed DVD sales and rising careers of some of the four main female actors, makers of the sequel are hoping that translates to greater success. Read the rest of this entry »

Adrian Grenier

Film and television actor Adrian Grenier proved that he isn’t completely like his big-shot Hollywood character on Entourage.

He recently showed that he can be a knight in shining armor for his girlfriend, Australian actress Isabel Lucas, involved in a driving accident with her Transformers co-star Shia LeBeouf.

Adrian Grenier managed to step in when a photographer asked Lucas a question she wasn’t comfortable answering. She and Grenier were walking hand in hand in Los Angeles, when Lucas was approached by the media, investigating her part with LeBeouf’s alleged crime. Hannah Montana

Hundreds of rock stars-in-the-making stood in a long line to see where “Hannah Montana” lives while on the road, Fox 8’s Kristy Steeves reports.

The tour bus for the character played by Miley Cyrus drew a large crowd in the parking lot of the Town Center Market Place on Darrow Road in Twinsburg.

Denis Leary To Host “Fashion Rocks”

When actor Denis Leary (”Rescue Me”) isn’t helping firefighters or playing one on TV, he is delving into other projects - and this time it’s hosting the fifth anniversary of “Fashion Rocks.”

The entertainment special, which is presented by Condé Nast Media Group, will celebrate the best in fashion and music and will air on Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 9-11 p.m. ET/PT on the CBS Television Network.

This year, the stellar lineup will include Beyoncé, Black Eyed Peas, Chris Brown, Kid Rock, Duffy, Fergie, Justin Timberlake, L’il Wayne, Keith Urban, Mariah Carey, Rihanna, Chris Cornell, One Republic, Pussycat Dolls, Solange Knowles and Timbaland with special guest Lynyrd Skynyrd.
